A Skinessential AM Routine: A Journey to Healthy Skin

Hey there, fellow skinessentials aficionados! I'm excited to share my skinessential morning routine with you, and I want this to feel as personal as possible because it is personal. I've embarked on a journey to achieve that radiant, healthy skin, and I'm taking you along for a ride. So, grab your favorite beverage, and let's dive into my AM skinessential routine step by step.

Step 1: Cleanser - A Fresh Start

First things first, we have to cleanse that beautiful canvas of ours. But here's a little secret: skipping this step sometimes is OK. Our skin produces something called squalene, which is a natural lipid. It's like one of the VIPs in our skinessential game, and it does wonders for our skin.

Squalene is a superstar because it is an emollient and antioxidant, keeping our skin hydrated and fighting off nasty free radicals. It's a crucial component of our skin's surface lipids. Who knew, right?

Now, there are two main types of cleansers: foam-based and oil-based. In the morning, I usually opt for a gentle foam-based skinessential cleanser. When you're done, remember to pat dry your skin gently. Rubbing it with a towel can lead to micro-tears that we'd rather avoid because, trust me, wrinkles are not our BFFs!

Step 2: Toner - pH Balancing Act

Toning is vital in my routine, mainly when using a foaming skinessential cleanser. That's because cleansers can mess with the pH level of our skin, making it slightly acidic. And we want it to stay that way.

Toner comes to the rescue by restoring your skin's pH balance. Now, it can get confusing with all the toner options out there, but you'll want to stay away from alcohol-based ones. They can disrupt that lovely pH we just talked about.

My go-to skinessential toner is water-based, like Gulab Jal (rose water). Glycerin or milk-based toners are also great, especially if you have dry skin during those chilly winter months. I promise to delve deeper into toners in an upcoming skinessential blog!

Step 3: Serums - The Chemical Symphony

Now, serums, oh, how I love them! But they can be overwhelming. Think of serums like a complex chemical dance party – they react to temperature and other products, so you've got to use them in the proper order and quantity.

For all you teenagers out there, start with Vitamin C and Hyaluronic acid serums. Vitamin C helps keep those pesky pigmentation issues at bay, and Hyaluronic acid is like a tall glass of water for your skin.

As we age, the skinessential journey changes a bit. You can opt for Vitamin A-based serums like Retinol, Niacinamide, Retinoid, or Tretinoin (with a doctor's prescription) to tackle wrinkles and blemishes. Want more skinessential guidance on serums? Drop me a message!

Step 4: Moisturizer - The Skinessential Seal

Some serums may be a tad drying, so moisturizing is skinessential. You can use any moisturizer or apply a generous amount of Hyaluronic acid. Personally, I'm a fan of the Laneige cream skin refiner. It's a bit pricier, so opt for products with simple, effective ingredients based on Hyaluronic acid. Remember, your serums are the power players, and moisturizers seal the deal by keeping your skin hydrated. There is no need for fancy gimmicks unless your doctor says otherwise.

Step 5: Sunscreen - The Ultimate Skinessential

Perhaps the most skinessential of all the steps is this one, and I can't emphasize enough how much I regret my teenage days when I was blissfully unaware of it. My epiphany happened after I spent time in South Korea. There is no age limit for applying sunscreen. Whether you're a kid or an adult, sunscreen is a skinessential for all. Those pesky UV rays don't discriminate by age, gender, skin color, or region.

I've developed a bit of a sunscreen addiction, I must admit! I usually go for SPF 50+++ PA. But what's PA, you ask? It can block UVA rays at various levels, and PA+++ is my go-to because it provides excellent UVA protection. In hot regions like India, where sun exposure is a constant companion, PA+++ is a skinessential. Also, don't forget to check whether chemical or mineral sunscreen suits your skinessential needs.

When you follow this routine diligently, along with some dietary modifications, your skinessential journey will work wonders and help repair your skin. I'll keep sharing more skinessential insights on each step, backed by research-based evidence. All I need is your encouragement and motivation. So please subscribe, and I'll write with even more enthusiasm. Your feedback is always welcomed. Let's embrace our skinessential journey together!
